FIVE INT’L UNIVERSITIES SET TO OPEN BRANCH CAMPUSES IN SAUDI ARABIA | |
Saudi Arabia has approved foreign investor licenses for five international public and private universities in a bid to allow them to open up branch campuses in the Middle Eastern country.
Arizona State University, University of Wollongong, University of Strathclyde, Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, and IE University are expected to open their branches, as per a report by University World News. SAUDI UNIVERSITIES SHINE AT GENEVA INVENTION EXPO | |
King Abdulaziz University won 17 awards and medals for its innovations at the Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions.
The 26 Saudi universities that entered — 19 public, two independent, and five private institutions — between them displayed 113 inventions in the Kingdom’s pavilion, with applications in various scientific, theoretical, medical and other fields. Jeddah University also took part in the exhibition, winning two bronze awards. These were for a computer-vision-based smart building health inspection system, and a tool for detecting and preventing distributed denial of service attacks (malicious attacks on a network or server).
Qassim University won a silver medal for its system for desalinating water using halophytic plants, developed by a research team from the College of Agriculture and Food Sciences. The university also received a bronze medal for a project to use date palm waste in the production of pharmaceutical excipients in nano-sized tablets, presented by another research team. Jazan University was awarded two gold medals. Asim Najmi from the College of Pharmacy received a medal for his work on derivatives of benzylidene 4, 2 thiazolidinones, and their use in diabetes treatment. Mohammed Mashiki from the College of Dentistry, meanwhile, won gold for his modification of a dental crown used in endodontic retreatment. The Geneva exhibition is a major global event, drawing inventors, researchers, and innovators from around the world. It was held from April 17 to 21 and attracted more than 1,000 innovations from over 50 countries. |
THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION AND THE GLOBAL PARTNERSHIP FOR EDUCATION(GPE) SIGN A PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT | |
The Ministry of Education signed a partnership agreement with the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) today. Saudi Arabia will contribute $38 million to support the organization, during the Human Capacity Initiative Conference. The conference is held under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and President of the Council of Ministers and Chairman of the Human Capability Development Program Committee. The event takes place over two days at the King Abdulaziz International Conference Centre in Riyadh. The agreement was signed by His Excellency the Minister of Education, Mr. Yousef bin Abdullah Al-Benyan, and the CEO of the Global Partnership for Education (GPE), Ms. Laura Frigenti. With this new partnership, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and GPE have committed to working together to support the transformation of education in low-income countries, increase investment in education as a powerful force to spur growth in the region and beyond and prepare young generations for twenty-first-century jobs. JOY ON STREETS OF THE KINGDOM ON 94TH NATIONAL DAY | |
![]() The Royal Guard Presidency organized a celebration of the 94th Saudi National Day on Sept. 23 in Jeddah, in the presence of Maj. Gen. Suleiman Al-Hudhaili, the commander of the Royal Guard Group in the Western Region. The celebration included musical performances of Saudi melodies, a motorcycle parade, a show by the Honor Guard, and other activities. The official ceremony began with the national anthem and recitation of verses from the Qur’an, followed by a performance of an operetta titled “And Blessings,” presented by Dar Al-Tarbia Al-Hadetha School, a documentary film about the occasion, and a film by the Royal Guard, all themed around the special day. |

The discussion focused on enhancing collaboration, with particular attention to increasing support for Saudi students, especially those pursuing PhDs. The Saudi Student Clubs in Australia and New Zealand commemorated the Saudi National Day 94 across Australia and New Zealand. Ceremonies were held in Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Auckland, and the Tasmania. These ceremonies were attended by Saudi students and their families, friends, senior universities’ staff. The events featured theatrical and poetic performances, along with visual presentations showcasing various projects of Vision 2030. |
